OnePlus has long claimed to deliver a “Fast & Smooth” experience, but with the upcoming OnePlus 15, the brand seems to be giving that promise a new meaning for gamers. The company’s new Gaming Technology suite, debuting on the OnePlus 15 series, is a combination of chip-level intelligence, refined hardware, and smarter software tools that aim to make Android gaming feel genuinely console-grade.
I tried some of these features on the upcoming OnePlus 15, and the difference is instantly noticeable. Frame rates are steadier, controls feel sharper, and the overall gaming experience feels a touch more responsive than before. Here’s what’s new.
OP Gaming Core: smarter power, smoother play
OnePlus has built a new OP Gaming Core directly into the chipset. This system analyses your game’s performance demands in real-time and redistributes resources to keep things running smoothly. The custom OnePlus CPU Scheduler claims to reduce CPU load by around 23%, cutting power consumption and keeping thermals in check.
This is paired with Next-Gen HyperRendering, which optimises how the GPU renders each frame. The result is cleaner visuals, better frame pacing, and more efficient rendering that keeps the phone’s battery from draining too quickly.
For gamers, this means you can expect longer sessions without performance dips or hot spots around the back panel.
Performance Tri-Chip: dedicated hardware for gamers
The OnePlus 15 also features what the brand calls a Performance Tri-Chip, comprising three separate processors designed for speed, touch, and connectivity.
The Performance Chip is built on the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, which is at the heart of the phone, and handles the raw horsepower, ensuring steady output even in GPU-intensive scenes. The Touch Response Chip is where you really feel the difference. It supports a 330Hz touch sampling rate and an insane 3200Hz instantaneous sampling rate. In games like Call of Duty Mobile, every tap and swipe feels snappier and more precise.
Finally, there’s the Wi-Fi Chip G2, which improves stability during online play. It prioritises gaming traffic and keeps latency low even when the signal isn’t perfect. In practice, this should mean fewer missed shots and smoother multiplayer sessions, even on patchy Wi-Fi. I couldn’t test this in my limited time with the OnePlus 15. I’ll have more to share in my detailed review.
OP FPS Max: pushing past 120Hz
While 120Hz gaming is now standard across flagships, OnePlus is already looking ahead. The OnePlus 15’s display supports up to 165Hz refresh rate and is powered by the company’s OP FPS Max system.
This setup combines display technology, GPU optimisation, and touch response improvements to enable gameplay at up to 165fps in supported titles, such as Call of Duty Mobile.
OnePlus says it’s working with game developers to expand support for high-frame-rate gaming. I played CoD mobile, and the jump from 120fps to 165fps does feel smoother and more responsive. For e-sports gamers, this could be a real advantage in competitive play once more titles start supporting 165fps natively.
Early thoughts
The OnePlus 15’s new gaming suite doesn’t feel like a marketing add-on; it feels like a true foundation shift. By rebuilding performance from the chip level up, OnePlus is aiming to deliver not just speed, but sustained speed through consistent frame rates, efficient power use, and reliable cooling even under load.
I’ll talk more about the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5’s performance and all the new gaming features that OnePlus unveiled at its Gaming Technology event in Singapore, as well as other aspects, such as its new design language, 165Hz display, and massive 7,300mAh-backed battery life.
If gaming matters to you, the OnePlus 15 is shaping up to be one of the most technically impressive Android phones we’ve tried this year. The brand’s “Fast & Smooth” experience has always been about everyday use, but now it finally extends to serious mobile gaming as well.
